Eric Lewis
Eric Lewis has been in practice at the Winchmore
Hill Clinic since 1967. He is a Chartered, State Registered Physiotherapist.
Additionally he has a Master of Science degree in Sport Injury
and Therapy and holds current membership of the Acupuncture Association
of Chartered Physiotherapists. He is also a member of the Institute
of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and holds the Higher Chiropodial
Diploma.
Eric has participated in most sports during
his life but most notably played rugby as a hooker, soccer as
an 'outside right', competed in the sprinting events and played
tennis and golf.
As a physiotherapist he was the chief physiotherapist
and eventually medical co-ordinator at Saracens Rugby Club for
24 years. He was physiotherapist with the Rugby Union for 13 seasons
being appointed physiotherapist to England Schools, England A/B
and England XV teams during that time. He has also been appointed
physiotherapist to national teams from Ireland and Wales. He acted
as physiotherapist to the four home unions (Lions) team on one
occasion and has been the official physiotherapist to the Middlesex
Seven-a-side finals at Twickenham since 1974. Eric has also been
employed as physiotherapist at high profile events such as the
Le Mans 24 hour race and two Rugby World Cups. He has also attended
athletics events such as the London Marathon, South of England
multi-event meetings and was the original physiotherapist to the
Trent Park Trotters. Many performing artists and sports people
have attended the clinic seeking treatment.
Teaching to a wide range of people from 'lay'
to MSc students, this interest has taken him to Wales, Scotland
and Saudi Arabia, as well as throughout England. Eric has taught
at the Universities of Hertfordshire, Middlesex, East London and
the Manchester Metropolitan. He is an NMSI tutor/examiner. He
also spends 80-100 hours a year continuing his professional development.
He has had many articles published, which has led to invitations
to speak at national conferences and to various media interviews.
